After the Interview

Hi there!
The interview seemed to go well - although I don't feel as confident as I did after the first one. I mean, I can't see any reason why I would be unsuitable for the job, but the interview seemed really quick (too quick), and these people didn't fill me with the confidence that I was filled with after the first interview.
They said that they'd let Amy (my contact at the recruitment agency) know by this afternoon. They also asked me how soon I can leave my other job - I told them "immediately" so I guess I have that in my favour.
Fingers crossed...
That's it really.
Went to the Greengate last night to have a few drinks for Tommy's 18th (Linden's brother), wasn't bad. Tommy got pretty drunk, coz everyone was buying him drinks. I'm still flat fucking broke, so I only had a beer Jon bought me, and one Tommy didn't want.
Yeah. That's it.

Second Interview!

I got a call today from the recruitment agency informing me that they have arranged an interview for the TC position tomorrow morning at 10:30am! w00t!
This interview will be held at the TC offices, so it won't be with the cool interviewers from before, but will be more of a traditional interview... so I have to start doing my research.
I also called the other recruitment agency the other day (about the job in Blacktown), and it was decided that I should probably let that job pass, as I am clearly happier with the idea of a CBD job, and there would be the risk that I could leave the job in Blacktown because of a better offer elsewhere before my 6 month contract is up (the job would entail 1 1/2 hours travel to get there...).
Saw Marty today for the first time in ages. He came round to Jon's this mornin' and we all went to Chatswood together (he had to get a hiking bag for his girlfriend), and ended up seeing Fearless (starring Jet Li). Not bad.
Oh man. The weekend sucked. We started cleaning/clearing the Scotland Island house on Friday, and didn't finish until Tuesday. Yech. So much carrying and stair climbing. Yech.
But it does mean I now have more crap at Jon's place (Like my DVDs). Handy.
Is that it? Pretty much... I guess...

The Job Interview

So I just finished the job interview, and it seems to have gone well! The interviewers were really great people, and we even talked about fantasy authors for a time. It was good, and they seemed really enthused. So enthused actually, that they said I may even be suited for a permanent position at a place called Ace Insurance (also in the CBD) at (If I remember correctly) $45k. Not bad. So they'll let me know soon.
But I should tell you a bit more about the jobs. The job at Sensis is digitising maps, but it is an evening shift from 3.30pm to 11pm, Mon to Fri. It's a 3 month contract with a possibility to stay on. The pay is $23/hr.
The job at TC is also digitising maps, but also creating arc data (travel time etc). It is standard 9-5pm, Mon-Fri. It pays $24/hr. They both provide onsite training. They also start Monday.
The job at Ace Insurance I have less info for, but I'm pretty sure it will be more complicated and more independant.
I don't really know what job I want the most.
To further complicate things, while I was in the interview, there was a voice mail message left about the job in Blacktown. They also want to interview me. So I called her back and told her that I just had an interview about some jobs in the CBD, and am obviously happier with the idea of a CBD job than one in Blacktown, especially as I don't know where I'll be living after November, and this contract is until June. BUT, she said that people that have stayed on at the Integral Energy job have been given positions at $65k pa, and that would be very nice.
So I don't know what to do.
I'm wanting my license before the end of Sept, so that will help with my decision. Maybe.
So there you go. I'm so very close to employment. I RULE!

I'm just now going to search around the web for interview techniques/tips etc.

Weekend

Not much to say really.
Well, I suppose there is.
I started applying for jobs last week, and will continue to do so this week.
Dad decided to come down to the Hunter on the weekend, using Peter's broken ankle as a reason.
I hadn't seen him for 4 years maybe. Crazy. It was really good to see him actually, and Tomasina (sp?) too. I also saw (for the first time) my half-sister Helen. She's lovely.
The top thing about seeing Dad, is that I did a fair bit of driving (he owns a manual), and he has given me enough money to get my licence, as well as help toward registering the EH! Hot shit! So I will be calling Ross this afternoon to see if he'll help me with some driving before I Go for my test (which I will be booking v. soon). I can't wait. It will certainly make getting a job easier.
Speaking of jobs, Michael KP is taking me to the Rural Fire Service GIS Centre today for a gander at how it all works. Neato! My good mate Levi actually works there, so maybe I'll see him. It's meant to be a very impressive place, and it is actually one of the places I would like to look for employment, but I don't think my skills are quite up to par at the moment. I'm still going to apply though.
So yeah, at the moment I'm just waiting for MKP to pick me up from Jon's.
Anyway, back to Dad. We went to the Zoo, Alex's baseball game, dinner a few times, lunch, and a cheese-based breakfast at the Hunter Valley Gardens. When I get my license, I'll probably start heading up more regularly.
I was meant to come back down to Sydney on Monday, but I stayed up at the Hunter to see Dad off on Monday, and on Tuesday, Mum didn't want Peter to come down (they've been fiting alot lately), so I had to stay up at the Hunter. So I'm finally down today. I don't think I missed anything too interesting...
Oh, and Tool have been confirmed to tour in January (RIGHT around Big Day Out, so I reckon it's pretty clear that they'll be playing there this year), and tickets go on sale this Friday... let's hope I have money by then.
Is that it?
I think so.

I should be inSydney for the rest of the week, but am helping with the move from Scotland Island this weekend, so I once again won't be available. Sucks.
Later gator,

Kinda moved in

Hey pals!
Sittin at Jon's, as I have most afternoons this week, as I've pretty much moved in. Only I haven't started applying for jobs yet; that comes tomorrow.
So how was my weekend? Good!
Friday night was a blast, I got well toasted, and didn't spend more than $80, which I'm happy with. We met at James Squires Brewhouse, because Pancakes @ the Rocks was closed for renovations.
Man my feet smell right now...
anyway.
I couldn't afford dinner there, so I sat outside with Boggle, Glen, Jon, Mike KP and Mike S and drank until the rest of the gang had finished dinner. I only got about 2 pints in before we left to go to the Pav. Yup, the fucken Pav. Such a shithole, but goddamn cheap, and of course that's why we went there. I might add not through choice; it was Belinda's friends that wanted to go, coz they wanted to get drunk. So we obliged, as it was not yet Tristan's BDay, but Belinda's. At least I got wasted there (it was my intent for Tristan's BDay to do this, it being a special occassion and all). We then headed off to Equilibrium (Jon went home as the poor SOB had to work the next day), which I reckon is pretty cool, despite being turned away last time I went there (at Boggle's BDay party). Got funky on the dance floor too, but we won't go there.
Yeah, the night was good. Got the bus home, met someone that bought puppies off of us once (actually Fred's Brothers and Sisters). Crazy world. Got back to Jon's, and slept when I got there. Also found out that my phone was reconnected, as I called Mum (who was about to leave to drop Peter off at Central Station so he could go to Griffith for the weekend to see a Shannon Noll concert).
The next day... Jon went to work, Boggle and I hung around, and Mike S decided to meet us at Jon's and head off to Hornsby. We had breakfast/lunch, and I bought Mogwai's latest offering, Mr. Beast. I haven't had sufficient time to become acquainted yet, as it requires a certain mindset that I have not yet found myself in. I probably shouldn't have bought it, as I'm now fucking tight, but it's habitual that I do...
Brendan and Leanne came over to Jon's that night, as it was Brendan's BDay on Friday, and we wanted to see him. We drank a bit, and watched The Wizard, the Fred Savage movie about a "challenged" kid who is awesome on NES. It was pretty lame, and the power glove didn't feature nearly as much as I thought it would. Turns out Tobey Maguire had a small part as someone's goon. Pretty funny to see him there.
I must admit that I spent most of the night collating the album art for the files on my mp3 player... nerd.
Sunday I was awoken by Brendan and Leanne at the door with breakfast (how very kind of them... many thanks go out to them)... but what happened that day? I don't think we did much. I had found a narration track that follows the first Harry Potter movie, so I went over to Brendan's (with Leanne) to go see it. It was fucking hilarious. I recommend getting it. It's done by the same guy that did the George Washington video I posted about a while ago. Go to
http://www.illegal-art.org/video/wizard.html
to get it.
We only watched the first disc that night (we were getting tired) and had intentions of finishing it the next day, but it was such a beautiful day that Leanne took it off and we decided to go somewhere interesting instead. We decided on going to the Australian Reptile Park up near Gosford instead. It was cool man. I love zoo-type places. Had a great day, but unfortunately it meant that I wasn't able to type up my CV, or call this guy that Jenny wanted me to call. After the reptile park, we went back to Brendan's and made spinach and cheese triangles that were tasty as, and easy as! The goats cheese ones were my fav. We also watched the final part of the Harry Potter narration. It was tops. The only problem was that it didn't sync very well, and we had to keep restarting the chapters at the chapter breaks mentioned during the CD (if you hear it, you'll know what I mean).
So I was going to type up a CV, and call that guy today, but at 7am I get the call that Jason had called in sick that morning, so I was to cover for him. So I worked today (why my feet stink). Only got two jobs done, the first one at Miranda took hours coz the lift wouldn't take the safe with the door on, so we had to wait to get the door stand, then get it up the lift. All up I think it took about 5 hours. Sucks. The next job was easy though, and the guy gave us a tip for it. Beer! A can of Reschs Real Draught (or summin'). Quite tasty.
And now I'm sitting at Jon's typing.
w00t!
Have fun,
Simon

Who's house? JOOON'S HOUSE!!

Sitting here at Jon's place, all by myself. Why? Jon's at work, that's why!
That doesn't clarify the situation any, Simon...
Oh.
Well, it's because I'm staying the night here because I thought Mum wasn't coming down to Sydney tomorrow, and I'm going out in Sydney tomorrow for Tristan's birthday (it's on Saturday... It's Brendan's on Friday... but Tristan booked us first, so I don't know what's happening with Brendan's birthday. Unless it's Sunday. I always forget what side of Tristan's birthday it lies... anyway).
So I'm staying at Jon's tonight. The plan was that I would be bringing over a bunch of my crap from Scotland Island because the lease runs out in 3 weeks, and we have to move our stuff.
But why move it to Jon's?
My, aren't you full of questions tonight intrepid reader. I bet your not even really intrepid...
because I've decided that above evrything else, I need a job.
What? But why are you moving your stuff to Jon's. Shit you're a pain in the arse, Simon.
Well, because I'm not going to find a job up in Wollombi, so I've decided to find a job somewhere with train access, and I'll stay at Jon's when that happens. I'm typing a new CV this week, and will begin looking for jobs this week too. Matter of fact, Mum's crazy (but helpful) friend Jenny has already given me a number to call on Monday. So I'll be doing that, and I have to send him my CV by Tuesday, so I need to get typing soon.
But anyway, back to me sitting at Jon's all alone.
Time wasn't kind to us today, and we weren't able to get to Scotland Island to pick up my stuff, so I'll have to go over there tomorrow to get it all (Mum has to head to the Nthn Beaches tomorrow for Peter's appointment to do with his leg anyway). I need to get my stuff tomorrow too, as I have to pick up my clothes for tomorrow night. As you recall it is the celebration for Tristan's 23rd tomorrow night, and we are going into the city for it (meeting at Pancakes at the Rocks). Hot shit. Should be tons o' fun.
Also, when I pick my shit up, I can finally put music on my iriver. it sucks with only 5 CDs on it... I want my collection back!!
Is that it? I reckon.

Oh, and almost as a side note, I have been so broke lately that I wasn't able to pay my phone bill from 2 months ago, and my phone has been barred from all outgoing activity... so if you've left voice messages, I can't check 'em, and if you've been expecting reply SMS's, then you won't get 'em. I'm paying the remainder tomorrow, and hopefully it wil be reconnected soon. I don't know why I'm posting this, as I'll be seeing you all tomorrow, but as I've typed it, I'm not going to delete it now.

Bing Bong Brothers Strike AGAIN!

Ok, this is a bit weird. Only a bit though.
Ok, so I was checkin my myspace. Alex's pal Matt adds me. I add him. I check his profile. HE has The Presets as a friend. I add them as a friend (they rock). I check their profile at http://www.myspace.com/thepresets
You should go check out what is under their "influences."
Yep. The muthafucken Bing Bong Brothers. That is too fucken cool.
Later.

Bing Bong Brothers Post

uuuh, that post about the Bing Bong Brothers below, was actually sent from my mobile weeks ago. Stupid Blogger.
And speaking of which, I got the new Eagles of Death Metal album yesterday (well, Mum got it for me...), and it kicks ass. Yeah, it really does. Better than the last one I reckon.

Still at home

Hey people!
I'm still up at the Hunter. I have been all week, looking after Peter - he's still not really able to move around without pain, so I'm there doing most things for him.
So I'm just as broke as last week, and just as unable to do anything social.
My new H340 did arrive on Monday, and it came with 3x cases (including the silicon one which I thought I was going to have to buy off of ebay) as well as the LCD remote (which I didn't have on my old one... sick). However, all my music is sitting on my computer at Scotland Island, so my H340 has only the last 4 CDs that I bought on it (as well as a lame-o album that the guy that sold it to me had on the machine... it's some Irish folk album that is so boring that it goes beyond putting you to sleep...). So I have to get myself to Scotland Island in order to transfer all my music to the player... gay-bo.
BUT! I now have a home phone line! So you people can actually contact me when I'm up at the Hunter house (which will be for at least another week). How good is that! I gave the number to Jon, so if you want it, just ask him. Sick bricks.
And that is all.
Have fun until I see you next (and then keep having fun while I'm seeing you...)!

Bing Bong Brothers

So, I've been a fan of the Bing Bong Brothers video from www.thelonelyisland.com for a few months now, but today I just found out that the same guys just directed the new Eagles of Death Metal video, which I might add included Jack Black and Dave Grohl. Hot shit. Go check their stuff out, including the Nintendo video on their site.
Cool Bananas.
