Best Weekend Ever?

I'm currently sitting on the train from Newcastle, on my way to Hornsby to meet Jon; we're going to see V for Vendetta. Jon's not welcome home tonight because his brothers girlfriend is coming home tonight after being away for 3 months. 'nuff said.
But anyway... about my weekend.
Friday I spent with my dear friend Linden, whom I've not seen in a very long time. We watched The Proposition (the Nick Cave movie). It was pretty good. I'd like to see it again to think it over a bit more. I didn't think it was 5 star material...
Boggle and I also went over to Jon's to waste time for a bit when Linden went to dinner.
I stayed the night at Linden's because I was meeting Alex at Gordon station at 6am. We were heading to Newcastle for a job, and after that I was meeting Sophie there.
The job went well (despite Alex being drunk from a party the night before), and I met up with Sophie easily.
Ah, Sophie. I'm totally fucking smitten, as is she. We spent the rest of the weekend together at my Hunter Valley house. We even made sushi! We've both fallen for each other very hard and very fast. Yeah, so smitten.
So, if the weekend consisted of me just seeing Soph, it would have been fucking brilliant, but it didn't.
Tool also released their new album, and I picked it up on Saturday. I haven't listened to it yet (AH!), because of not being able to give it the attention it deserves with Sophie around (or was it not being able to Give Sophie the attention she deserves with the album around?). So I'm fucking keen to hear it. It's got a fucking cool cover, complete with a stereoscope! Fucken A.
But that's not all that happened.
I also received a letter from the Kentucky Consulate Center. I've been selected for the final round of diversity visas. There's a 50/50 chance of me getting a green card! Fucken A! I have to return some forms, then I'll be notified of an interview date, them, if approved, I pay the near $1000 fee, and then I can live, work and learn in the states! To say it again, Fucken A! I might have to go to the states within 6 months of it being issued though... better start saving.
So this weekend was dream-like; a beautiful woman I love, a new Tool album and the chance to get a Green Card.
Magic.

Opeth

Holy shit.
No, seriously, holy shit.
I just saw Opeth play, and shit-goddamn-motherfucker was that concert AWESOME!
They opened with Ghost of Perdition, which has been one of my very favourite songs for the last 6 months maybe. It blew my fucking mind. Wowsers. Amazing.
And to just top this most wonderful night off, walking up the stairs to the station, I find a concert t-shirt that some unseen person had dropped. I couldn't see anyone that looked like they had lost a shirt, so I kept it. SCORE!
And now I'm on my way to Brendan's place for some drink and early morning entertainment.
Good night.

Dubbo

Thursday evening I was told that I was requested at work the next day for a job in Dubbo, Fucking Dubbo. Jose and I were to head out on the ute to deliver the safe that couldn't be delivered last week (because Simon sent the wrong fucking safe up there!).
6 Hours there, 5 hours back, for a 1 hour job worth $1000. Annoying. At least I heard Tool's new single twice. Ah, Tool, how I love thee! Only 5 days until their new album comes out. Stoked! Alex already has a downloaded copy of it, but I don't want to hear a lo-fi version. Also, I said I'd give my virgin listen to Mike's Stereo. I fucking love his Hi-Fi, and to hear the new Tool album on it will be fucking bliss. So I guess I'm goin to his place this Saturday.
But anway... the safe wasn't ready until 10:30am, so we left late, and about 2 hours after leaving, Alex found out we were going and told us that we needed Alloys (large alloy plates to lie on the ground) for the job, and probabl the high lift trolly too. Great. Seeing that we were already so far into the job, we decided to head there anyway and try the job anyway.
We actually completed the job relatively easily. We needed the alloys to get across some very lumpy ground, but there were actually two ways in, the other way involving a very tall step. So we just built a ramp out of the random pieces of building waste lying around the site. Yay!
Of course I didn't get back to Sydney until 10:30pm, and actually missed my bus back to the beaches by 5 minutes. There was a 45 minute wait until the next one. So I finished writing that letter to Helen that I started in the ute on the way up (yay! I'm not a total bum!). I'm torn on whether I should make some slight changes to her CDs before I send them, or just send them as-is... So torn...
The weekend was a whole lot of average, as Pete, Mum and I headed up to the Hunter House for maintainence. So we gardened and swept and cleaned, and the house looks prettier now. I also had some very nice steaks and sausages. Num num.
Sophie headed down to Canberra to present at a conference, so we didn't have the oppurtunity to talk much, which sucked, and I haven't seen her since last Sunday. We are going to meet up tomorrow though.
Tomorrow will be busy. Meeting Sophie in the Morning, but unfortunately, she has to head back up to Taree early afternoon. Sucks.
So I'm planning on heading to Brendan's for an Anzac Day BBQ, and then into the city by 6:30pm to meet up with Briony to go see Opeth at 8pm.
YAY! OPETH! I fucken love Opeth. Totally fucken mad metal.
So yeah. That's about all really.
Been playin my DS a fair bit (thank you Supercard for ruling, and PassMe2 for making it possible), but that's coz I'm a nerd. Can't wait for the wifi lib to be released, then we'll be getting some kickass homebrew. Matter of fact, progress for that can be found here (not that any of you are DS fans...).
Anyway. That's all.

Long weekend

Hey all!
Haven't posted in ages coz I couldn't be bothered (happens I guess), but there are details to fill in...
Sooo... as you no doubt know, it was the easter long weekend last weekend (hmm, I said weekend too much in that sentence), so of course I had to go out.
Thursday:
Jon called me and invited me over to his place for beer and a bbq, coz Boggle was already over. I wasn't doin nuttin, so I said I'd go pick up my wages and head over.
Picking up my wages took a god damn long time. Pete and I headed over to Safe Installations (Botany) to pick them up, and also grabbed food when we got there. All this took the time to about 4pm, as Pete was not willing to drive me to Jon's, and noone was heading near the train station any time soon, I had to leave the office when Mum did. Then we went for dinner (I wasn't even hungry). Sorry. This level of detail is decidedly dull...
Anyway, I ended up getting to Jon's at about 8pm maybe? I brought a case of Old, and it turns out that Brendan and Leanne had come over too, and shortly after I arrived Tristan did too.
So we drank a decent amount and just buggered around.
I sabotaged one of Boggle's SMS's and he got a little pissed (although not seriously).
Friday:
Next morn we were all hungover, and Boggle spewed. Loverly. He hasn't spewed in ages. I like the word spew. Brendan and Leanne left early, but the rest of us stayed back.
Mike S had invited me to his place as he had just built his new (fucken hot) PC, and had borrowed Neil's XBox 360. Being hungover, the inspiration to go anywhere was minimal, even if his house is only around the corner (although not really walking distance). I contacted him and we ended up agreeing to meet at Subway for lunch. Michael KP was with him. Groovy, hadn't seen either of them for a while.
Met up, had lunch, headed over to his place (Boggle and Jon went back to Jon's). Turns out Neil took his XBox back, but that didn't matter as his PC was all the awesome I could handle. Boggle turned up a little later, but also left shortly.
Ross came over (also groovy, as I hadn't seen him for ages), and we busted out Michael's funky Keyboard and laid some tracks. Well, Ross and Mike did, I was buggered and not in an energetic mood, so I sat and read. We also talked some, but I ended up going to bed before the others (still about 2am), as I was too buggered.
Saturday:
One of Jon's mates was playing at the Metro tonight, so we were gonna go in and see 'em play. Jon said doors opened at 7pm, so we decided to have a few beers before heading into the Metro at about 7:30pm.
So it was Jon, Tristan and I (noone else could be bothered). We ended up getting carried away with the beers, and not getting to the Metro until 7:45pm. Turns out Jon's mates band started at 7pm, and finished at 7:30pm. Woops.
So we went and got more beers.
I'd also arranged to meet Sophie in the city, so I gave her a call, and we were to meet up (she was at the Cross). She wasn't enjoying the Cross, so she decided to come and meet up with me (and co.). She'd been at the races all day.
We met up when I was at that Irish pub on King St.
Anyway, we got along very well (as previously), and we ended up hooking up. Yay! So yeah, we're now totally going out... does wording it like that cheapen it? I don't reckon it does. So yeah, I'm pretty stoked. I fancied her back when we first met (like 2nd or 3rd year Uni), so it's weird to have that come to fruition... good though. Very good. I made her a compilation CD today, and it turns out that she has made me 2. Tops. Unfortunately, she lives in Taree, so I really need to get my license. Luckily she comes down to Sydney most weekends, and today she landed a new job that gives her a 4-day working week. Excellent.
So that's probably the biggest news I've had for sometime. Yeah, pretty stoked.
Sunday:
Had to head up to the Hunter house to spend Easter with the family.
So I met up with Pete, and we headed up there. We were going to have lunch at the "Swill n Grill" in Cessnock (a fucking brilliant restaurant in the Australia Hotel). Because of how late we were we ended up meeting the family there.
The lunch was very disappointing. The food there is usually fucking brilliantly amazing, but the steak I ordered was shit. Very shit. More fat than taste. I left most of it. A shame because the sauce and the prawns were brilliant. We let them know. They let their suppliers know. And I'm getting the chicken next time.
Nothing much else really happened.
Monday:
Market day! But there wasn't any CD stalls at the market this time. Sucks. But there was a guy selling machine gun bullets that I could easily turn in to a bullet belt. I asked him about how much it was for enough bullets for a belt. He told me that the bullets are $3 each (WTF?), and that someone had recently bought enough for a belt @ $250 "but I threw in the tin!" Yeah right matey, fuck off. I asked my uncle how much he could get de-commisioned bullets for, and he reckoned about $10-$15 per 100. That's better. But with him, I have to find the clips to join the together. Tricky, but I doubt they'll cost me $235...
Peter bought some mining belt buckles (he's been keen to get a new buckle for his belt, so much so that he borrowed my dead fish buckle for the wekeend - leaving me with my NES controller buckle... I wonder if Sophie was as impressed as Boggle was when he first saw it...). He settled on a "State of the Arc-welding" buckle and a "whatever mine supports the westpac rescue chopper."
Yeah.
My passkey2 for my Nintendo DS arrived (so did my Tony Hawk game!), so I can now run Homebrew apps on my DS (as well as pirated material... shhh). Stoked. I have a movie player, mp3/ogg player (unneeded with my H340, but cool anyway), and various other groovy apps. I will soon be able to use the DS as a remote for my PC (controlling winamp from around the house - Couple this with the wireless music bridge I want to purchase, and I'll have a mad music system at my fingertips). So yeah. The DS Rocks, I don't care what you think Mike, it PWNS the PSP!!
But of course, it isn't nearly as groovy as the DS Lite...
So yeah. That was my weekend.
I went over to Brendan's on Tue night, and we watched movies and drank. His parents will be away for a little longer, so I'll probably be around again.
Unfortunately, Mum has booked all the kids in for a big cleaning session up at the Hunter this weekend, so I won't be social. Luckily enough, Sophie is in Canberra that weekend anyway, so I don't have to feel bad about not seeing her. I'll try and see her on Monday though...
Ok, so that's it now.
Hope life rocks for you!

Suicide Girls

So I went to the Suicide Girls gig on Friday night. Good fun. Really good fun. Got a photo with nixon (my fav of the night) afterward, which will serve as a nice little keepsake.
However the experience was marred by the fact that I had to work the next morning. And not just work, but work IN FUCKING CANBERRA. This sucks for so many reasons. I will list them for your enjoyment below.
1) It's 4 fucking hours away in the truck
2) we leave at 6am (or earlier) when we go there (so wake at 5am)
3) it's a fucking dive
4) the middle seat in the truck is very uncomfortable and I don't fit properly
So, rather than going out afterward, I had to go back to Alex's place with him (we were both working in Canberra the next day).
Alex and I got to bed (that sounds wrong...) about 1:30am, to be up by 5am. On the way down to the car, I received an SMS from Tristan telling me that he was at Pitt St McDonalds. Clearly he and Jon had a better night than me.
Trying to stay awake on the way down to Canberra was v. difficult. At least it was Jason driving (sorry Jas).
We were heading down to Canberra to deliver 2x Cash safes and 2x HUD Dante Double Door safes to the CBA in... I can't remember what suburb.
Of course when we get there the builders didn't have the area where they were meant to go ready, so we just had to bring them in. So why were we brought down on such short notice on a Saturday? WHY?!?
The guy said that he just wanted them through the doors before they sealed them off... yet we brought them in the doors that weren't being shut off anyway. Wow... that really sucks. At the very least, I will be paid well this week. But that's the very least. Well, actually it's not the very least, the very least was the very tasty, very spicy chilli beef that I had for lunch after the job...
We got back to Sydney at about 3:30pm, and Alex dropped me at Central, and I headed over to Jon's for a relaxing night (and to hear of he and Tristan's adventures the night before).
So we decided to buy curry (from Hardeep's in Hornsby; the very best curry house anywhere) and hire movies.
Because I'd never seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, we hired that, and also hired Transorter 2 and Euro Trip (because Tristan had never seen it). Transporter 2 sucked, but we expected that; you see a movie like that for jumps and explosions and other stupid things. Fear and Loathing was enjoyable, although I'd like to see it again to see if there was anything more to it (or something to it). Euro Trip is fucken hilarious.
And curry is awesome. I've been wanting to get a vindaloo from Hardeep's for ages, but never have. Tristan was up for it, and so was Jon, so we got one. Tasty, but not actually hot. The Chilli beef was hotter. So next time I'm going to ask for a "hot" vindaloo. I wonder if that's how you spell vindaloo...
The next morning I'd arranged to meet up with Sophie for coffee (despite me not actually being a drinker of coffee...) in the city. So I headed off from Jon's while he was still asleep (bastard) for my meeting.
I had a wonderful time (but shouldn't have buttered my Banana Bread. I've now learnt my lesson), and am keen to see her again. Hopefully it will be soon. We keep in frequent contact through SMS anyway (bringing random thoughts to each other) and also call each other about once a week. I look forward to seeing her again.
And now I'm at home. I was meant to work today (Alex has pinched a nerve in his shoulder blade so has been moved to light duties at work), but felt a bit of a chest cold forming, and took the day off. Alex visited the doctor for his check up today, and he said that he will have to continue on with light duties for the next few days at least. So I'll be covering for him on the trucks. Money is GOOD!
And that's about it. Thanks for reading!

Simple Weekend

Soooo the weekend...
I was meant to stay up at the Hunter this weekend to help clean it up. I was booked in for a hair cut on Fri, so went up with the Fam (minus Alex) on Thurs night. Was cool to have Pete (younger brother) come up.
Had my haircut on Fri - I was disappointed as it wasn't as short as I wanted, but it's grown on me since, and I think I like it now), and also got a message from Tristan hoping to do something that night. Later received one from Jon saying he was holding a BBQ/video night. Darn. I like those nights.
Turns out Peter was invited to go out that night, so would be heading down to Sydney... meaning I could get a lift. Sick. Sorry Mum, I'm off to Sydney!
So rocked up at Jon's about 7pm (apparently early), bringing that bottle of JB that Mark gave me for Christmas... don't like Bourbon that much.
Brendan, Leanne, Boggle and Tristan all arrived shortly after me, and we all started drinkin. We shortly lost interest in cooking on the BBQ, and ordered pizza instead. Then drank more.
I had brought down my car stereo (that I bought for my EH about 3 years ago and have not yet installed) for Tristan, and he installed that into his car (he lent his stereo to his girlfriend). I bought it second hand off of ebay, and hadn't yet tested if it worked, so I was stoked to find out it did. And that it looked good too.
Soooo we drank some more (I opened and stuck into my bourbon), and then Jon brought out the weed I gave him like 6 months ago. A good idea indeed.
Most everyone had left by then... it was just Boggle, Jon, Luke (Luke is Jon's brother), and I now. So we rolled a spliff and Jon and I shared it. I like getting stoned after a night on the turps. I think it's the very best time to do it. So we got the idea that heading to McDonalds would be a tip-top thing to do (see post below).
So we all clambered into Luke's car (he'd not had a thing to drink/smoke all night), and drove up to the 24hr McDonalds at Thornleigh (nearby). We arrived in bare feet (except Jon, who was wearing Ugg Boots), me also borrowing Jon's badged-up, stoner army jacket. We must have looked exceptional. We were also carrying beers. Or at least I was, I don't really remember...
So we ordered our food, and due to the new frsh-menu thingy, there was a wait. We all talked rather loudly while waiting for the food, and Luke pointed out my fucked up feet. I bent over to show him the scars around my nails, and forgot I was holding a beer and poured it all over the floor. It took me a moment to realise what was happening. We all burst into laughter (Jon and I especially). These people sitting at a table behind us (who had apparently been taking interest in us for some time) asked us rather loudly if we were stoned. I think Jon said "what?" and looked at them, and they went quiet. Then we all burst into laughter again. Hysterically. Our food arrived and we laughed as we ate it. Boggle threw his McChicken box at Jon, and left a nasty Mayonnaise stain on the seat. Of course we laughed at that too. We also took a photo. As we walked outside, the people that asked us our state of mind we in their car and saw us walking out. They asked us if they could buy some grass off of us (as a joke I think... I don't think it's a very clever one), and I told them that they had a cup on their roof (they did!) the driver sped off in order to knock it off. So I walked up and put my cup on their roof, and they drove off. This was hilarious I assure you.
We went back to Jon's and I think we watched a video. I don't remember.
Next day we got up late and cooked a BBQ breakfast at about 1:30pm. The lady that served us at Woolworths (we were buying bacon) thought we were something else for having breakfast so late.
Boggle, Jon, Luke and I bummed around (we were planning on going to that Viking Exhibition, but didn't have time). Luke had to go to work (he works at Dr What videos in Bondi), so we gave him a list of videos to bring home, including Cannibal! The Musical, Debbie Class of '88 (arguably the worlds funniest porno), Sharon's Sex Party (The porno that Mr. Bungle sampled)... I think that's it.
He couldn't find Sharon's Sex Party, but found Debbie (I've been looking for that since I lost it in year 10!) and Cannibal. Sick. He also brought home Sorority Babes in the Slimeball-o-rama (or something similar) which was a horror spoof. We watched Debbie first. The version we all saw in Year 10 was the X-rated version, this one was the R-Rated version and had some very funny editing in it... The running time was stated as 83 minutes, but the after-editing run time was actually on 43 minutes. It doesn't really matter though, we hired it for the dialogue, not the porn. No, seriously. Back in year 10 we used to fast-forward the porn because the dialogue was so funny.
Anyway. After that we watched the Sorority Babes movie. It was pretty funny. Not too bad, but I'll probably never bother watching it again.
We started watching Fire in the Sky but we were all buggered and gradually all went to bed. Me last. I turned off the movie just before it turned creepy. I probably should have just finished watching it, coz I finished watching it the next day and it was over very quickly and the mood was destroyed. Anyway.
Next day we watched Cannibal! The Musical (it's been far too long since we last watched that...). Boggle left after that.
Jon and I fucked around until his driving lesson, then I watched Family guy with Luke until Mum arrived and we headed home. Peter and Mum argued as always when he's tired (and he was very tired...), and I set up the new wireless router. Learnt some new stuff about WiFi...
Anyway. That was my weekend. Good. Cheap. Very enjoyable.

Friday.

Dude. Weed + McDonalds = funnier than you'd think.
