Looks like I couldn't refuse the price the salesman at Billy Hyde gave me; $299, a full $40 cheaper than Allan's.

Holy cow! you bought Edirol studio monitor speakers for your ALARM-CLOCK!!!??? Jeeesus. Now THAT'S slightly over doing it don't you think? :)
I did! And I've now added a small Yamaha sub to rrreeeaaallllllyyy bring the party in the mornings.
I figured they cost as much as a HiFi from Sony/Panasonic/JVC that comes with a CD Player et al. and I don't need that stuff.
Putting money where it counts, I suppose.
But they rock!
On board DAC, Subwoofer out, it all works so well.
